2013 was a big year for Daft Punk, selfies and Student Switch Off. Over the Freshers Period we toured the UK looking for a new generation of students to join our campaign and eat our Ben and Jerry’s.  A record breaking 20,800 students pledged to save energy whilst living in halls, and over 800 submitted photos to prove they are putting their pledges into practice.

The photo of the term came from Leah from The University of Cardiff, who proved that even Whovians switch the lights off before going to lectures.

Following the success of our Freshers Tour, Lecture theatres across the 52 universities we work were packed out, when over 950 students attended training sessions to brush up on their energy saving skills, learn about effective  and enhance their CV’s by getting involved with our campaign.

In November we launched the first round of our nationwide Climate Change Quiz, raising awareness of energy issues and providing a welcome source of procrastination for over 15,000 students. The winning halls/colleges, which had the highest percentage of their residents to take the quiz were from Cardiff University, The University of Bath, The University of Oxford and The University of Cambridge. These halls/colleges will be receiving a mouthwatering 100 big tubs of Ben and Jerry’s over the next few weeks. Fingers crossed they save a scoop for us!

The next round of the Climate Change Quiz is launching soon. To help your hall win and to keep up to date with all latest competitions, Find your University, sign up to our mailing list and like us on Facebook!
